Firm employee Ben Burghart won a scholarship to study alpine architecture
The School of Architecture is excited to announce that alumnus Ben Burghart (MArch ’16) was recently awarded the Vivian and Hobart D. Wagener, FAIA Traveling Scholarship for $6,000 from the Architectural Education Foundation and AIA Colorado. This scholarship will support Ben’s ongoing research to study alpine hut architecture in the Alps region. As part of this research, titled The Architecture of Refuge: Mediating Climate Change, Tourism, and Altitude in the Alps, Ben has developed an Alpine Hut Database that catalogs this typology through geographic information (such as country, region, altitude, latitude and longitude), physical dimensions, and photographic imagery.
